My Little Blogging Vacation

So if you have been checking on the blog lately you might have noticed that I haven't been blogging in a while.  And by a while I mean for over a month.

Sorry about that.

It's probably going to be another month.  Or two.

Why so long, you may be asking.

Well, the answer is because I'm a spaz.  You might have read my little Announcement post where I mentioned that I got engaged.

Yeah, wedding planning has pretty much taken over my life.  And because I am indecisive, it's been fun.  My local bridesmaids are suffering through that as I try to decide my bridesmaids dress colors.  From black, to dark blue, to sapphire blue, and back to black again. It's staying at black because I like black and it was my first choice.  Hooray for black.

We have a great venue (That'll be a post for a little later on, promise)

Did I mention the house hunting?  We have a great Realtor, Missy (with Superior Property Management), and are very excited to find our home.  I'm pretty sure that our mom's are slightly more excited than we are.

So that's it for now.  There will be more to come.  And I promise to be more active on Facebook and Twitter.

See y'all in a few months!

Friday Faves-March 1st Edition!!

Hi Y'all.  My life has been crazy this week.  On the upside, we have a possible wedding venue!  We just have to try all the food before we make our final choice!  The food for our wedding reception is very important to Rob and I.  Never mind that I am a blogger, one of the main ways that Rob and I bonded early on was over food.  We both love to cook!

On to the Faves!

Fave #1:  So I know I've told you about ASAPScience on You Tube, but this one is relevant to food!!!  Butter VS Margarine!  You need to watch!!!

Fave #2:  It's another video, but one I can fully get behind.  Film makers have been trying to get one iconic DC superhero on film for years.  They keep failing.  In 33 years no one has been able to touch Lynda Carter's version of Wonder Woman, but one stuntman turned director is sure gonna try.  He made a kick butt trailer for a movie that will probably never be made, and that makes me sad, cause this trailer is awesome!

Fave #3:  My sweetie made me homemade chicken noodle soup last week.  It was fantastic!

Fave #4:  My mom is sick with the flu/noro virus/plague.  That's not the favorite.  The favorite is that my dad, despite not needing to get sick himself, is taking good care of her.  I have such a good example of what a good healthy relationship can be.  Feel better soon mom.

Fave #5: Have you heard of Cat Versus Human?  As a cat parent myself, I can say that her satirical drawings are surprisingly accurate.  For example:

Fave #6:  Yeah, this next one is gonna be on  here for a while...cause I am engaged!!!  I am still so very excited about it!

That's all for this week folks!  Till next time!

Ack!

I woke up this morning with that nagging feeling.  You know the one.  It's the feeling you get when you forget to do something important...like UPDATE YOUR BLOG!!!!

Holy crap!  I can't believe I forgot.  Seriously.

To be fair, I have been doing nothing but looking for wedding venues.  And helping with awesome baby showers.

And spending time with the future hubs...planning the wedding.

And eating loads of tomato soup.  Seriously, what I made last week (in my one and only blog post, sigh) was enough to feed me for a week.

This week, I am going to make something tasty.  Probably another yummy soup, or a stew, or maybe a yummy sandwich.

I'm also going to put together a blog post about my wedding planning book.

Oh!  And I won't forget about Friday Faves this week either!

I'll have that food post up for you tomorrow!

Starting Over Doesn't Have To Be Hard

I have been in a cooking slump.

I mentioned a week ago that I was going to go back and make things that I knew were good.  I decided to go to one of my all time favorite, and healthy, recipes.

Roasted Tomato Soup!

I first posted this back in November of 2011.  It is one of my favorite go to recipes because it is so easy.  It just seems hard...I made myself laugh at that one.  I did change one or two things up.  I used veggie broth instead of chicken broth this time, and added more carrots...cause I like carrots.  I also used a whole onion!

Behold, my photographic evidence!

Celery!
Onions!
Carrots!
Tomatoes!!!
My Garlic is sprouting, I may plant this!
Veggies in a pan!
Roasted Veggie Goodness!

I made soup!  It looks orange here.

And it looks red here!  Interesting.

I am loving that this turned out just as well this time as it has every time.  Score one for starting over!

Also, do you see those pictures?!?!?!?!  I love my new camera!

Till next time, everyone!

Happy St. Valentine's Day Everyone!

Also, Happy Birthday to one of my fave peoples, Tenitia!!!

Just a little bit of updating with a side of news for today.

My cooking experiments are failing.  And it's not that the food is bad, it's that it's just not quite right.
So starting next week I am going back to basics.  Back to the beginning.  Back to those important cooking skills that we all need to know.I'll be digging up old recipes and trying out new ones.

If you have any cooking techniques, or recipes, that you would like to see just drop them up in the comments.  I'll be interested to see if y'all suggest something I haven't tried. It will also help me with losing some weight.

Especially since I have to fit into a wedding dress sometime in the future.

Yeah, in case you missed it earlier this week, I am all engaged and stuffs.  Happy St. Valentine's Day hun!

I can't wait to start planning for the big day, but other things must be done first. Yeah for stuffs!

So I'm gonna be busy, but not to busy to work on the blog and come up with tasty recipes.  Low fat cooking for the win!

I'm skipping Friday Faves this week.  So I type at you on Monday!!!

Till next time!

Hey y'all!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Me, I got engaged !!

Squee!!!

My sweetie is the best!  I'm a little bit on cloud nine right now.  Okay, I'm a lot on cloud nine!

I don't even care that my king cake came out tasting like shoe leather.

I owe Renee a fruit basket or something equally awesome!

Life is so good!

Friday Fave's-Valentine's Edition

Don't hate me.

This was supposed to be a post about pasta and chocolate.

I gotta say, it was good, but it was just not quite right.  Something was missing.  It's still missing.  So I'm gonna try again.

But not now.

I also tried a strawberry salad, but I did something wrong...

You don't wanna know.

Cause I made a list instead.  A list of great Valentine's Day gifts to get your foodie. Lists are fun!

1: Up first, we have this lovely fondue set from Amazon.com

This isn't your momma's fondue anymore.  For example, try Nadia G's smore's fondue.  It's got whiskey in it! Also, it helps if you prepare the fondue and serve it as dessert while giving this as a gift.

2:  Ladies, you know how it is.  Chances are you are dating a carnivore.  A meat and potatoes man.  And he's also gonna be the one that is hard to shop for.  Why not get him some Omaha Steaks?  You can go online to their website, or, if your lucky, visit their store (Memphians, there be one in Colliervile!!!)

3: Every cook dreams of being Julia Child...in some way.  Why not give the best cook book ever to that special someone.  Heck, even make them a recipe out of it to show you care, or are hungry.  Mastering the Art of French Cooking is currently on sale for $22.00 on Amazon.  Go buy it yesterday!

4:  How about a collection of romantic comedies where food features heavily?  Try Simply Irresistible, No Reservations, and Julie & Julia!!!

5: So you aren't a big cook, but you want to do something special.  How about a cooking class for two.  You both get to learn something, spend time together, and see other couples having fun as well.  Even if you don't take a couples class, take the knife skills class!  It's worth it for the time alone the new skills will save you!

6:  Okay, so you are broke, and by broke I mean can't afford to go to McDonalds for dinner, none the less a nice restaurant   Why not have a picnic in your living room?  Move the furniture out of the way, throw a log on the fire place, make some chicken and rice (it's cheap), and pour some sprite and apple juice in a wine class (non alcoholic cocktail for the win!) and have a nice night in.

There you have it, my ideas for a great Valentine's day!  What are your plans?
