Update- What a Holiday Season!!!

Well, this post is mainly just an update.  There might be some other stuff.  No food though.  Well, there may be food.  I went out to eat last night.  So, I have a do review for you!  That's food, right?

CBU Mike was in town on Wednesday!  A good friend from the college aged years, whenever he comes into town we all jump at the chance to hang with him.  Of course, he comes into town when he has time off from his job, so it is usually when a large portion of us are not in town.  Poor Mike.  We picked a place to eat drink and be merry.  And when I saw "we" picked the place, I really mean is that someone else picked the place and I just said "yes, I'll eat there with you".

The pick of the night was Las Declicias.  An authentic Mexican restaurant in the University of Memphis area.  It's a whole in the wall type place, and you might drive by it when you first see.  But, the food was fantastic and very reasonably priced.  And when I say reasonably, think a little pricier than McDonald's   Also, a lot healthier.  The food doesn't taste like grease with a side of salt.  It tastes like food...with actual flavor.

I kind of lost where I was going with that one.

As I was trying to say.  The food was great.  The service was a little slow, but not terribly so.  The homemade chips and fresh salsa made up for it.  Also, the service could have been slow because they had a crowd.

All in all, I will go there again.  I have already told my family about it.  Yes, I loved it that much.

Thursday night was Panchos!  If you live in Memphis, well.  You already know and nothing more really needs to be said.  Best Cheese Dip Ever!!!  Ever!!!  The rest of the food isn't half bad either, but lets be honest, you go for the dip.  Panchos is a Memphis institution, and I am always pleased as punch to eat there.  Plus side, Family was in town!

You may be asking why family was in town.  Well, my Dad's 60 Birthday Party was the reason.

I have to say, my mom, she throws one heck of a party.

I wish I could say that I took lots of pictures, but I was to busy having fun and eating the food.

The food!!!  There were three, count 'em, three cakes.  Shrimp, ham, multitudes of dips, loads of dipping implements, and Jo's Banana Pudding!!!  My mom enlisted the help of the multitudes of house guests to help her get ready for this shindig, which was genius on her part.  I mean, who better to help you get ready than the people who are already held hostage...visiting you.  Also, they volunteered.  So props to everyone who helped to get the momentous occasion off the ground.

By the way, dad doesn't turn 60 until Jan 11th.  We celebrated early so that the out of town folks could come.  Like I said, my mom is a party planning Genius!!!!

I hope everyone had a great New Year!  I am going to have a blog post up tomorrow with the first dish of the new year!!!  I'll be stepping out of my comfort zone for this one!!!  I can't wait!

Till next time!!!
